Programme Board meeting papers:
The Scottish Government and NHS Education for Scotland (NES) have taken forward an extensive programme of evidence gathering and engagement in order to understand the potential opportunities associated with expanded deployment of Medical Associate Professionals (MAPs) across Scotland.
This work was designed to support the Scottish Government in arriving at an informed view on the potential opportunities associated with any future expansion of these roles and the steps which would have to be taken in order to achieve this in a way which complemented the range of work already underway to support the wider NHS Scotland workforce.
That work culminated in the submission of the NES MAPs Report and Recommendations to Scottish Government in 2023. In response, the Cabinet Secretary for NHS Recovery, Health and Social Care requested that a programme of work be taken forward to support the gradual, evidence-based expansion of these roles across NHS Scotland. The programme will be jointly delivered by the Scottish Government and NES.
A Programme Board has been established to oversee the newly constituted NHS Scotland Medical Associate Professions Programme with the aim to support the gradual, evidence-based expansion of these roles across NHS Scotland.
Programme Board papers are shared to enhance understanding of this activity. These can be found in folders dated for each meeting.
