Social prescribing definition

A recent international study carried out by researchers in Canada in which Scotland participated has developed an internationally accepted definition of social prescribing. Hopefully you will recognise your role within this:

Social prescribing is “a means for trusted individuals in clinical and community settings to identify that a person has non-medical, health-related social needs and to subsequently connect them to non-clinical supports and services within the community by co-producing a social prescription – a non-medical prescription, to improve health and wellbeing and to strengthen community connections.”

Resources

This page has been created to give you access to courses we think will be most relevant and helpful to you in your social prescribing roles.

The courses have been peer reviewed by community link workers and we hope you find them useful and beneficial to your work. You can do them in your own time, at a pace that suits you, so hopefully you will find them easy to fit in around your work.

Some of the resources listed will require you to login using your Turas account.

If you do not have a Turas account, you can create one using the 'Register' link at the top right of the page.
