Welcome to the manager and educator section of Support Worker Central

This dedicated learning space is designed to empower managers and educators who play a key role in supporting Support Workers. Whether you’re guiding new support workers, fostering personal development, delivering training, or enhancing teams and services, you will find practical tools, evidence-based guidance and collaborative learning opportunities tailored to the unique challenges and responsibilities of supporting HCSWs to become capable and confident.

The learning resources listed on this site are generic.  They are designed to be applicable to all nursing, midwifery and allied health professional (NMAHP) support worker roles. This allows you and your teams to work with a national structure, but add local detail – for example, what does that post look like here, in our team?

Ways of Working

At NES, we work in partnership with you to provide high-quality learning resources, co-develop shared solution, and offer quick access to current materials. Our work is guided by three interconnected themes that support and influence each other.

A key part of our role is building strong networks with stakeholders and sharing best practice across Scotland and beyond. This is central to the HCSW Voice and Learning Culture aspect of our model, which we support through three national networks:

  1. HCSW Education Network – a national community for educators and managers
  2. HCSW Advisory Group – a collaborative forum where HCSWs work directly with NES
  3. Associate Practice Educator Network – a national network for those in Associate Practice Educator roles within health boards.
