Support Workers Code event 29.01.26
Support Worker Code

The Support Workers Code event was held on 29 January 2026.

During the event, we introduced the Code, which was developed with staff across health services and is founded on NHS Scotland Values. We also outlined the next steps, including the roll-out of training to support staff in understanding and applying the Code in everyday practice.

The Code applies to all staff who are not statutorily regulated and who work in NHS health services in Scotland, regardless of role or setting.

Delegates included Support Workers across all roles and settings, Managers, Team and Service Leads, Practice education and development teams, and those involved in supporting the learning and development of Support Workers.

The recording and presentation slides from the event are now available to access using the links below:

The modernised Code is still going through final checks, and the final approved Code will follow once the review is complete.  The new Code will replace the current Code of Conduct and Induction Standards and will be accompanied by an e-learning module which all Support Workers should complete annually.

Until such time as the Code is published and the e-learning module is live, the existing Support Worker workbook should continue to be used.

Further information will be cascaded widely once the Code has completed final checks and the review process is concluded.
