Introduction

The new role was introduced to address the need to provide new models of care, that support NHS Grampian to deliver safe and sustainable services which ensure the best possible patient experience and health outcomes. In addition, the introduction of this Support Worker role supports teams to continue to deliver high quality care in the face of sustained vacancies for registered staff. 

Thanks to NHS Grampian for sharing the case study highlighting this role, supporting education qualification as well as the experiences of those involved from the student and wider team perspective. The case study illustrates how the role has been integrated within community midwifery services.
