This second webinar took place on Tuesday 07 October, where we took a dive into real-world examples of how AI is being used to improve decision-making, drive efficiency, and support frontline services.
Featuring expert insights from:
Is AI Safe to Use?
When used responsibly, certified AI tools like PainChek (as mentioned by one of the speakers) have shown real benefits. However, ethical use is key. The workforce must understand how tools work, obtain organisation authorisation and follow internal governance procedures.
What About Data Protection and Confidentiality?
Only secure, enterprise-grade AI tools should be used with person-identifiable data. Public tools like ChatGPT must not be used for sensitive information unless data is anonymised. Organisations should have clear policies and conduct risk assessments to protect privacy and comply with GDPR standards. The workforce should refer to their organisational policies and guidelines.
What Support Is Available to Help Me Learn?
National, open access resources are available as summarised below:
Senior leaders are encouraged to communicate their organisation’s AI position clearly and support staff learning.
How Will AI Affect My Role?
Tools like Copilot and Magic Notes can automate admin tasks, freeing up time for other activities. The workforce should be supported with training and guidance from their organisation to build confidence and digital capability.
Are There Approved Tools We Can Use?
A Scottish AI Register is being developed to track approved tools. Rollout varies by organisation, but pilots are underway. The workforce are encouraged to be proactive, ask questions, and get involved in shaping how AI is used locally and within their organisation.
