Welcome to the National Centre for Remote and Rural Health and Care Information Hub.

This Hub has been developed to share project information, guides, and resources in relation to the National Centre for Remote and Rural Health and Care (NC R&R HC) first phase programme of work. 

This information hub provides remote, rural and island health and care relevant information to assist colleagues across NHS Scotland with easy access to learning resources and sessions which the NC R&R HC team design and deliver.

Multi-Disciplinary Education & Training Funding Opportunity for Primary and Community Care

Multi-Disciplinary Education & Training Funding Awards Now Open

The National Centre for Remote and Rural Health and Care (the Centre) have a small allocation of funding to support remote, rural and island primary and community health and care service groups across Scotland in accordance with the remit of Phase 1 of the Centre 2025-2026.  

The funding awards should support multi-disciplinary primary care practitioners and/or education teams who wish to develop and/or deliver training initiatives and education events. Funding may also be available to support the purchase of equipment/resources that will enhance local primary care training, and education.   

Your application will be considered against the criteria listed on the application form.  Please use the questions to demonstrate how your application for funding support meets these criteria. 

Applications are now open and will close on 30th January 2026.  Applicants will receive a letter to inform them of the outcome.

Credential in Rural and Remote Health (GMC)

The new Rural and Remote Health Credential, focusing on unscheduled and urgent care, developed in a UK-wide partnership and led by NHS Education for Scotland (NES), will play a pivotal role in ensuring the health and wellbeing of rural communities.

The GMC-approved curriculum and associated educational framework provides a consistent approach to learning and will equip doctors with enhanced skills in leading, delivering and coordinating unscheduled and urgent patient care closer to home.
