Role of Strategic Programme Board

Purpose: To agree and drive the priorities and services being provided by the National Centre for Remote and Rural Health and Care. 

Role and Responsibility: The Strategic Programme Board will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of the National Centre for Remote & Rural Health & Care (NC R&R H&C) objectives and realisation of the required benefits. 

The Director for the National Centre will lead this programme of work with, and across, NES directorates and key partner organisations to ensure all necessary expertise, resources and capabilities are brought to bear in a co-ordinate and cost-effective manner. 

Sir Lewis Ritchie, Professional Advisor to Scottish Government, Primary Care Directorate and Professor Karen Reid NES CEO will oversee the governance arrangements as part of the Strategic Programme Board together with representatives from key partner agencies from across Scotland.

Accountable to: Scottish Government Primary Care Directorate and NES Board. 

Chairs:  Professor Karen Reid, NES Chief Executive and Sir Lewis Ritchie, Professional Advisor to Scottish Government, Primary Care Directorate.

Membership: Scottish Government Key Partner Organisation Leads e.g., CWS leads R&R Primary care Leads, NHS Boards, HSCPs, CEOs Academic Partners Third Sector / Local Government Partners Reference Group members 

Meeting Frequency: Quarterly
