These principles help you decide if you are ready and what will be expected of you. By applying, you are agreeing to take part fully and use your learning in your role, your organisation, and to contribute to wider change across the system.

As an applicant, you are expected to:

  1. Be able to commit
    Make sure you have the time and support to take part fully.
  2. Take ownership of your learning
    Engage fully in the programme and develop your leadership skills.
  3. Apply your learning
    Use what you learn to drive digital transformation in your organisation and beyond.
  4. Share and collaborate
    Work with others, share learning, and support peers.
  5. Reflect and improve
    Be open to feedback and use reflection to grow as a leader.
  6. Use your support network
    Work with your Line Manager and Digital Supporter to apply your learning.
  7. Take part in evaluation
    Complete all required evaluation activities.

Line Manager Principles

Why these principles matter

These principles set out what is expected from you to help the applicant take part fully, apply their learning, and make an impact in their organisation and across the wider system.

As a Line Manager, you are expected to:

  1. Provide protected time
    Make sure the applicant has time for study and programme activities.
  2. Support their learning
    Offer guidance, feedback, and opportunities to apply learning.
  3. Encourage development
    Support their growth and leadership development.
  4. Promote knowledge sharing
    Encourage them to share learning across the team and organisation.
  5. Stay involved
    Check in regularly and support their progress.
  6. Support evaluation
    Help monitor progress and complete evaluation activities.
Digital Supporter Principles

Why these principles matter
This PGCert relies on strong support to help applicants apply their learning in practice during and beyond the programme.

As a Digital Supporter, you play an important role in helping the applicant connect learning to real work and wider digital transformation.

As a Digital Supporter, you are expected to:

  1. Support digital transformation
    Encourage the applicant and support their goals.
  2. Stay connected
    Check in regularly and keep them motivated.
  3. Share knowledge
    Offer insights, experience, and practical advice.
  4. Encourage reflection
    Support thinking about learning, progress, and challenges.
  5. Link to real work
    Help connect learning to projects, opportunities, and networks across the wider system.
  6. Take part in evaluation
    Complete any required evaluation activities.
