This guide has been designed for final year GP speciality trainees who need to secure visa sponsorship after they complete their training, in order to remain in the NHS Scotland Workforce.
You will find guidance and signposting to information about visa sponsorship, and job opportunities, which can help you to progress your career in NHS Scotland.
Explore step 2 of 5 to continue your GP career in Scotland.
The NES Trainee Services Sponsorship Team typically contacts trainees 2-3 months before their current visa expires to inquire about the need for a visa extension. This allows them to initiate the Certificate of Sponsorship (COS) process for your visa extension. Please ensure that your visa expiry date is after your expected CCT date and that this information is accurate. The end date for your visa will generally be 14 days after your expected CCT date.
If your visa is due to expire in less than 6 weeks and your training programme has been extended, and you have not been contacted, please reach out to the NES Trainee Services Sponsorship Team via the HR Service Desk.
