Occupational Therapy & Physiotherapy - Health Care Support Workers
After focussing on the unique contribution of qualified AHPs “A step too far” exercise was started. Different staff groups were asked what they do and what they feel an adequately trained AHP health care support workers (HCSW) would be able to do. Two areas have come out consistently from the groups. These are Collection of Pre-Admission Profiles for OT and Stair Assessment for Physiotherapy. The team worked to develop robust competencies and criteria to enable AHP HCSWs to perform these in all areas.
