Here you will find information on the Graduate Apprenticeship (GA) for Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) education pilot programme
Rationale for this activity:
The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), the Regulator for Operating Department Practitioner (ODP), raised the qualification threshold for entry to the register to degree level. This change is required by September 2024.
Following strategic discussion with Scottish Government, Skills Development Scotland (SDS) and the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) it was determined that a Graduate Apprenticeship route can be developed as a pilot 3-year programme. This complex activity is proceeding as a priority to support workforce and service needs.
NES and NHS Boards’ service representatives are collaborating with strategic partner leads to contribute to development of this pilot programme.
