Introduction

NES Innovation and Workforce Diversification activity includes: 

  • Supporting the building of capacity and capability to innovate effectively across the country, fostering a culture of innovation and agility. 
  • Identifying where innovation creates a need for new skills and competencies, enabling learners to grow their skills so we can we maximise the value of investment in technological innovations. 
  • Assessing the implications of new educational technology on our workforce, and work with others to build confidence and new skills to support engagement with emerging learning opportunities. 
  • Contributing to the diversification of career pathways, with a focus on extending the use of apprenticeships and micro-credentials to support upskilling existing staff. 
  • Supporting our partners to widen access to learning and career opportunities. 

Diversification of the workforce both enhances responsiveness to meet service and population need and adds resilience.

Current activities include: 

  • Medical Associate Professions (MAPs) 
  • Piloting of a Graduate Apprentice qualification for Operating Department Practitioners (ODP)
