When applying for a job, it is helpful to understand the type of recruitment process an employer will use. In adult social care in Scotland, numerous employers are encouraged to adopt the principles of Values Based Recruitment in their recruitment and onboarding process.

Values Based Recruitment (VBR)

VBR is designed to draw out your personal values, and help employers understand how these align with their organisational values.  VBR recognises shared values which in turn promotes a positive work environment and improvement in staff performance. VBR helps employees to understand if the organisation is right for them, as well as helping employers gain the right person for the job.  VBR is significant as employees who share the values of the organisation, are more likely to thrive and last longer in that organisation.

Understanding and implementing the principles of VBR helps the organisation identify the right candidate for the job. In turn, recognising similarities in yours and the organisational values, will enable you to produce a meaningful job application, and will help you in preparation for your interview.
