  • The session is a full day session (7 and a half hours)
  • Lunch & refreshments will be provided.  Please email mandatory.training@nes.scot.nhs.uk if you have any dietary requirements

Aims and Learning Outcomes

  1. Review the role of Practitioner Services.
  2. Discuss how to make claims successfully and avoid misinterpretations of the SDR and the regulations; *
  3. Discuss how claims are verified including the mechanisms of prior approval claims;*
  4. Discuss the legal and financial frameworks which govern NHS Dentistry in Scotland and their importance in everyday general dentistry.

  • The location of this in-person session is Dundee Dental Education Centre (DDEC), Frankland Building, Smalls Wynd, DUNDEE, DD1 4HN
  • The session will last 3 and a half hours with a morning (0900 - 1230) or an afternoon (1300 - 1630) session on Friday 10th May, you are only required to attend one session. Due to high numbers there is also an additional session on the evening of Thursday 9th May (1730 - 2100)

  1. List the key principles underpinning the Adults with Incapacity Act (Scotland) 2000;
  2. Discuss informed consent and appropriate record keeping;
  3. Describe what is meant by 'adult with incapacity;
  4. Discuss when there is a need to consult with others prior to carrying out treatment for an adult who lacks capacity to consent.
