Monthly Training Days
Trainees are expected to attend at least 7 teaching sessions each year (morning and afternoon count as separate sessions).
These training days can be made up of the monthly training days listed in the table below and the Core Surgical Training Hub UK.
Monthly teaching days are part of the simulation strategy. These are face to face and details of these are listed in the table below. You can attend both East and West sessions. It is recommended that topics are spread across the 2 years but you should not attend a specific simulation event more than once.
Places are limited at face-to-face training sessions and you are required to book in advance. Booking opens when all details are available to the NES Simulation Team and closes 3 days before the event. There is no charge for CST trainees and you are not required to request study leave separately on Turas.
This is the Core Surgical Training National Teaching days. These are held online every 4th Thursday from 2pm - 5pm and are mapped to the curriculum. The first webinar is on the 22nd August.
You must register online to attend. To register please fill in this form: Link to register for CSTHubUK. An attendance report is sent to Simon Gibson and Philippa Rust, you must fill in the feedback form to have your attendance recorded.
These teaching sessions are not run by the simulation team so if you have any queries please direct them to the organiser Katherine Smith.

The programme is updated regularly when information becomes available to the NES Simulation Team. If you have any questions regarding the programme or attending any sessions, please contact cstsimulation@nes.scot.nhs.uk.
