MRCS teaching days form a mini teaching programme to support Core Surgical Trainees in their preparation for the MRCS examination. These teaching days are delivered at different sites across the East and West programmes, including Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee.
The format combines morning interactive lectures on common topics that come up in the exam with afternoon OSCE-style workshop and simulation stations. Trainees are expected to attend the full day. The topics covered may vary between individual teaching days.
The sessions will also usually include practical guidance on what to expect on the day of the exam. The afternoon sessions are structured as OSCE-style workshop and simulation stations, allowing delegates to practise exam technique, observe peers and identify areas to focus their revision. These teaching days are particularly designed to support preparation for MRCS Part B.
Trainees may attend multiple MRCS teaching days if they wish.
