All health, social care and social work staff should be equipped to meet the legal and professional Duty of Candour standards. These standards support the implementation of consistent responses across all health and social care providers when there has been an unexpected event or incident that has resulted in death or harm.
This site contains two e-learning modules to support staff to understand and enact Duty of Candour (launched July 2025). These replace the previous module and reflect updated guidance from Scottish Government released in March 2025.
Additional training workshops are available via NES focussed on implementing the APICCTHS model for responding, involving people using compassionate communication skills. (there are no course fees for health, social care and social work staff from Scotland).
