Study leave should support progress through the Credential curriculum. It may be used for approved courses, conferences, placements, travel, accommodation and subsistence where these support curriculum outcomes.  The Scotland Deanery operates a national process and system to ensure that all applications for study leave are considered on a fair, equitable and consistent basis and further details on the application and claim process can be found on the Deanery site and within the Credential FAQ guide.

Before you apply

Before submitting a study leave request:

·         review the Credential curriculum;

·         discuss your learning needs with your Educational Supervisor and/or Training Programme Director;

·         confirm the activity supports your Credential progression;

·         obtain service approval for time away from clinical duties.

Funding

Scottish Government funding is available annually to support eligible Credential learning and development activity.

Funding is subject to programme budget availability and Training Programme Director approval. There is no fixed individual allowance.

Funding cannot be used for examination fees, exam preparation courses or professional membership fees.

Apply and claim

Apply through Turas at least six weeks before the activity.

After approval, submit your claim through Turas with copies of receipts. Claims must be submitted within three months of the activity end date.

The study leave budget runs from April to March. Claims submitted after the annual finance cut-off may be charged to the next financial year.
