What is an Outcome 6?

An Outcome 6 confirms that you have achieved all required competencies and are recommended for completion of GP training.


Following your Annual Review of Competence Progression (ARCP), you will:

  • Receive formal confirmation of your Outcome 6
  • Be required to acknowledge this within 10 working days via Turas and your ePortfolio

1Acknowledge your ARCP OutcomeLog into Turas and your ePortfolio to confirm and sign off your Outcome 6.
2Apply for your CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training)Submit your application to the General Medical Council (GMC)—this is not done automatically.
3Arrange your Indemnity CoverContact your indemnity provider to ensure you have appropriate cover in place for post-CCT work.
4Apply to the Performers ListYou must be on the Performers List before working as a GP in the UK. Complete this form to apply.
5End of Training NotificationYou will receive confirmation that your GP training contract has formally ended.
6Transfer your NHS Email AccountContact your new Health Board to arrange transfer of your NHS email access.
Planning Your Transition

Transitioning from training into your first GP role typically takes up to three months, so planning ahead is essential to avoid delays.


Key things to consider:


  • Allow sufficient time for your Performers List application to be processed
  • Submit your CCT application early to avoid delays
  • Plan your start date realistically, as you may not be able to begin work immediately after receiving your CCT
  • If applicable, check your visa requirements and timelines to ensure everything is in place before you start work
