The project intends to discover whether there is a role for NearMe technology, to assist with virtual patient assessment at home after discharge from the ED, as an alternative therapy assessment to a follow up call.
Completing these follow up calls as a Near Me video call has the potential to offer an alternative service to patients, that addresses their limitations and could improve patient's journey through healthcare services. It could also reduce time spent on onward referrals. This has the potential to align with our core values as OTs, and work to realistic medicine principles and personal centred practice (Harding and Markman 2023; RCOT 2016).
