IMG Induction Programme
IMG Induction Programme

All new International Medical Graduates (IMGs) joining NHS Fife are warmly invited to attend our dedicated IMG Induction Programme. This programme runs twice a year — in August and February — and is carefully scheduled to avoid overlap with departmental inductions.

Who Can Attend?

The programme is open to all IMGs joining NHS Fife, including:

  • Residents in Training posts
  • Locally Employed Doctors (LEDs)
  • Staff Grade, Associate Specialist and Specialty Doctors (SAS)
  • Consultants

What’s Included?

Our induction offers a comprehensive introduction to:

  • NHS systems and structures
  • The IMG workforce and common challenges
  • Communication and non-technical skills
  • Career progression and portfolio development
  • UK prescribing practices and NHS medicolegal frameworks

We also provide:

  • Clinical simulation sessions
  • Interactive lectures tailored to the UK prescriptions and NHS medicolegal practices

Ongoing Support

Support continues beyond induction, with:

  • Simulation-based clinical scenarios
  • One-to-one guidance from the IMG Lead

To help you settle in, we offer an IMG Buddy Scheme. Each new International Medical Graduate is paired with an experienced colleague who can provide guidance, answer questions, and support you as you navigate your new role.
