Organisations who commit to fully adopting and embedding the Digital and Data Capability Framework Self-Assessment Tool are able to request access to anonymous digital and data capability information through a dashboard. The dashboard can give insights and reveal trends across different professional groups and roles, allowing you to assess digital and data capabilities, identify areas of strength or uncover gaps, and target investment in workforce development where it will have greatest impact.
The dashboard lets relevant organisations (NHS, Local Authorities, Social Work , Social Care, Care and Support Providers, Housing, Third and Independent Sector Organisations) see anonymous aggregated statistical data that has been gathered through the Digital and Data Capability Framework self-assessment tool.
The dashboard provides approved users with access to a range of workforce insights that include:
The details of the dashboard you see will depend on the type of organisation you work for:
Local Authorities and Territorial Health Boards
If you are part of a Local Authority or a Territorial Health Board you will see anonymous self-assessment data for your own organisation, and integrated workforce data for the organisations that make up your Local Health and Social Care System (the group of Local Authorities and Territorial Health Boards that work together to deliver health and social care services within your geographic area).
You can find a list of Local Health and Social Care Systems and their integrated organisations here.
Other Organisation Types
If you are not part of a Local Authority or a Territorial Health Board (e.g. Social Care Organisations, Third and Independent Sector Organisations, Housing Organisations, special NHS Boards, etc) the dashboard will show you anonymous aggregated statistical data for your own organisation only.
When signing up to access data through the dashboard each organisation is asked to commit to the ongoing promotion and use of the Digital and Data Capability Framework and Self-assessment Tool across the organisation, and agree to provide regular feedback on how these resources are being used and how the data available is informing the development of workforce digital and data capabilities.
All self-assessment data accessed through the dashboards is anonymous.
The self-assessment tool does not retain the user’s name and email address after these have been used to customise and send the self-assessment email so it is not possible to link an assessment response with an individual’s name.
Once the self-assessment data is taken into the dashboard, anonymity is maintained by applying Statistical Disclosure Control (SDC) to the Professional Group and Role data. This ensures that small groups of data (typically those with less than five responses) are supressed. For example, if the dashboard is filtered to a specific role for which there are less than five responses, this data will not be available to view. For this reason, organisations will need to ensure that a large number of individuals have completed the self-assessment tool so that a substantial quantity of data has built up to be able to provide useful workforce insights.
Each organisation can nominate up to five individuals to access their dashboard. As numbers are limited we need to ensure access is provided to the right people within each organisation, for example those who are responsible for:
Each organisation will be asked to identify an Approver who will be responsible for authorising requests for access.

The Approver in each organisation is responsible for:

Once you have read the above information, identified who your Approver is going to be, and established who else from your organisation needs to have access to the dashboard, send an email to nes.dew@nhs.scot confirming that you have read the information on this page, that you agree to Accessing the Data: Your Commitment and that you are ready to request access on behalf of your organisation.
Please note, access for an organisation should only be requested once, on behalf of the whole organisation, so make sure you have had the right conversations before you get in touch.
