The aim of the AHP Skills Maximisation is to take participants on a service improvement journey. As a team member your participation in workshop activities will enhance your knowledge and understanding of:

Stage 0: Prepare
This stage helps you explore, learn, and prepare your thinking.
Stage 1: Clarify the journey
This stage helps you and your team to understand the bigger picture, to identify and clarify your journey, and to gather differing perspectives.
Stage 2: Capture uniqueness
This stage helps you and your team to focus on your contributions, and to gather and analyse the data you need.
Stage 3: Creating improvement
This stage helps you and your team to create, plan and support change improvement cycles, and develop your business case.
Arts Psychotherapies – Mental Health
Arts therapies include art therapy, music therapy, dramatherapy, and dance movement psychotherapy. Arts therapists used the Skills Maximisation Toolkit to explore service user journeys in mental health services. They identified barriers and areas where they could contribute.
These included
Barriers: referral, limited awareness, poor career structure
Opportunities and Benefits: wider choice of therapies for service users, evidence of effectiveness
Key targets: connect to the “bigger picture”, to targets and senior manager priorities.
They gathered data from Scottish mental health statistics, prescribing information, research, and service user surveys. Then created action plans. Their actions focused on
The Skills Maximisation Toolkit supported arts therapies to identify where their input can added to improve service user outcomes.
