NES Optometry IP placements

Independent prescribing simulation-based placement sessions

NES Optometry are running simulation-based Independent Prescribing Clinic Placements at Clinic M, Stobhill Hospital, Glasgow.

These placements comprise a series of innovative simulation scenarios developed around the groundbreaking EyeSi virtual reality slit lamp which is a highly realistic diagnostic training system for medical professionals. This integrates cutting edge virtual reality technology into the original hardware of a Haag Streit slit lamp, allowing you to examine virtual patients in real-time with the biomicroscope, fundoscopy lens and/or gonioscopy lens.

  • Each session counts as one IP clinical placement session.
  • You may use these sessions to fulfill up to 12 of the 24 required sessions set by the College of Optometrists.
  • To count towards your IP clinical placement, you must have successfully passed your Module 3 assessment.
  • Facilitator details will be confirmed at the start of each session.
  • Each session provides 3 Interactive CPD points.
  • Sessions cover three unique patient scenarios and can only be completed once.
  • To avoid duplication, please check your learning history on Turas before booking.
