As part of their 23 Things Digital, the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) have developed this guidance with steps to help you improve your digital security. Read the introduction and follow instructions a-e: SSSC - Digital Security

Your organisation will have rules and policies in relation to online safety and security. If you're not already aware of these, you should speak to your line manager about how to access the documents and familiarise yourself with the contents. You may also want to look for relevant information on your organisation's intranet or by speaking to information governance colleagues, if these are available.

Level 1 - I follow guidance to do simple things to keep myself safe online. I know I must comply with rules that exist to ensure technology is used safely and securely. I don't believe I am currently breaching any of these rules, and I am confident I know how to access further information if needed.

When looking for simple things that you can do to keep yourself safe online avoiding spam and phishing is a good place to start. This guidance will explain what these are and help you learn how to avoid potentially harmful content on the internet: GCF Global - Avoiding Spam and Phishing 

Use this web page to find out what QR codes are, how they work, and how to avoid malicious QR codes and protect yourself online. Your organisation will have rules and policies in relation to online safety and security. Familiarise yourself with the contents of these, and make sure your current practices don't breach any of the guidelines. Speak to your line manager or information governance colleagues if you're not sure.

Level 2 - I take necessary precautions to keep myself safe online and recognise any potential dangers. I have an understanding of the guidelines, policies and legislation that apply to online safety and security and am confident I comply with these. I follow organisational procedures to report any potential issues.
