This is a one day course for ST1 and 2 Trauma and Orthopaedic trainees (or LAT equivalent) which aims:

  • To provide an introduction to the principles and practice of knee arthroscopy
  • To apply a range of teaching methods to aid understanding and skill development
  • To assess the utility of virtual reality simulation in teaching arthroscopy principles

Pre-course reading: Knee Arthroscopy

Prerequisites:
ST1 or 2 Orthopaedic trainee or LAT equivalent.

Learning aims:
To provide an introduction to the principles and practice of knee arthroscopy To apply a range of teaching methods to aid understanding and skill development To assess the utility of virtual reality simulation in teaching arthroscopy principles

Learning outcomes:
Understand: indications for Arthroscopy, Surgical setup, surgical process intraoperative considerations Practice: familiarisation with kit, patient setup, portal placement considerations and to develop basic arthroscopic skills.
