Simulation courses for Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery (T&O) trainees in Scotland.

Specialty Training Years 1-3 (ST1-3)

Total Knee Arthroplasty Bootcamp: Principles & Practice of TKA (Simulation Training)

All T&O ST1-3s in Scotland are invited to attend this TKA Bootcamp.

This 1-day bootcamp aims to:

  • provide an introduction to the principles and practice of knee arthroplasty surgery
  • apply a range of teaching methods to aid understanding and skill development
  • assess the utility of virtual reality simulation in teaching arthroplasty principles

Venue: Scottish Centre for Simulation & Clinical Human Factors (SCSCHf), FVRH, Larbert

Dates: This is a 1-day bootcamp and you book onto either day depending on your grade.

  • COURSE 1 - 18th April 2024, 9am - 5pm - ST3/LAT3 only
  • COURSE 2 - 19th April 2024, 9am - 5pm - ST1/LAT1 & ST2/LAT2s only

Course fee: This course is free for T&O ST1-3 trainees in Scotland.

Knee Arthroscopy Bootcamp

All T&O ST1-3s in Scotland are invited to attend this Knee Arthroscopy Bootcamp.

This 1-day bootcamp aims to:

  • provide an introduction to the principles and practice of knee arthroscopy
  • apply a range of teaching methods to aid understanding and skill development
  • assess the utility of virtual reality simulation in teaching arthroscopy principles

Venue: Scottish Centre for Simulation & Clinical Human Factors (SCSCHf), FVRH, Larbert

St 6, 7 and 8

Total Knee Arthroplasty - Cadaveric Simulation for senior trainees

This one day course aims to:

  • Provide a brief outline, tips and tricks to the principles and practice of knee arthroplasty surgery
  • Allow hands on TKA using cadaveric simulation
  • Allow each candidate to perform a full TKA on a cadaveric specimen

Venue: Clinical Anatomy Skills Centre, Thomson Building, Glasgow, G12 8QQ
