The course will be one day with a focus on Resuscitative Thoracotomy Skills acquisition and sign off for eportfolio also. 

There will be some pre-learning  - reading/watching videos - that you will require to complete in advance and will take 60-90 minutes. 

Resident doctors will be allocated a place on this course. If you have been allocated a place you can swap to a different date, but please do not book on if you have not already been allocated a place. You will be allocated a place once future dates are confirmed and/or you are eligible to attend. 

Prerequisites:
ST6 in Emergency Medicine in Scotland Deanery

Learning aims:
To meet the RCEM curriculum learning needs for: - SLO6 Procedural skills - Intermediate and Higher Training Resuscitative Thoracotomy - SLO4 Care for injured patients across the full range of complexity

Learning outcomes:
At completion of higher training a trainee will: - Be expert in assessment, investigation and initial management of patients attending with all injuries, regardless of complexity - Provide expert leadership of the Major Trauma Team - Be aware of Human factors/non-technical skills that affect performance of team caring for trauma patient
