Support and Supervision Requirements

Credentialing as an advanced pharmacist is self-directed and not linked to higher education institutes qualifications. Therefore, supervision requirements are flexible provided appropriate pharmacist and multi-professional colleagues are supporting their development.

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society outlines recommended support requirements  for pharmacists working towards core advanced pharmacist credentialing to include educational supervisors, practice supervisors and mentors.

Expected role modelling behaviour is outlined in the GPhC standards for pharmacy professionals.

At a comparable level of practice, the Designated Prescribing Practitioner (DPP) competency framework details the attributes of supervisors supporting trainee prescribers, whilst Guidance on supervising pharmacy professionals in training, details general expectations of supervisors that are transferable to advanced practice.

TURAS Learn educational supervision in pharmacy page provides information on supervision, learning resources for supervisors and peer support session booking.
