The Leadership and Management Programme (LaMP) is an entry level resource to help clinicians develop their leadership and management skills

Introduction

This one-day workshop is an entry-level course and has been designed by NHS Education for Scotland (NES) to help and support individuals as they develop a range of personal and professional skills and behaviours which will contribute to their effectiveness as a clinician.

There are currently three programmes, to suit different groups:

  • Medical trainees who are in a specialty approaching CCT, GP trainees approaching CCT and Dental trainees
  • Staff grade, Specialty and Associate Specialist (SAS) doctors and dentists, consultants and GPs
  • Optometrists
Learning Outcomes

On completion of the course, you will have a better understanding of:

  • The personal qualities required for effective leadership and how these can be demonstrated
  • Effective leadership and its importance in team-working
  • The importance of effective management of resources
  • The influence effective leadership and management can have on the development and continuous improvement of services
Technical Guidance

The online course is run via Adobe Connect. By booking onto this course, you are committing to download the Adobe Connect app (instructions will be given upon booking) and using Adobe Connect as instructed. You will be expected to have your webcam visible during the course. It is the delegate's responsibility to ensure they can access the workshop appropriately and have sufficient connection speed to participate. All delegates require a laptop or desktop computer, with functioning webcam an microphone to participate in the course. 

Please DO NOT use mobiles phones, iPads/tablets as this may significantly restrict your ability to fully participate. In doing so, you risk being removed from the workshop by facilitators. 

NES reserves the right to remove anyone from a course if they are unable to fully participate. A delegate should be present for the duration of the course and a failure to participate for the duration may see a delegate removed from the course and not receive a certificate.

Delegates should take part in a short audio-visual test with a course facilitator, in advance of the workshop. Test dates and times will be made available by email.
