Learning hub for practice supervisors supporting trainees on the MSc Rural Advanced Practice programme
A very warm welcome to this Rural Workplace Advanced Practice Supervision Hub.
The purpose of this hub is to provide education to enable sustainable health and social care service improvement, wellbeing and JOY in living and working in a remote, rural and island settings.
Recognising the challenges in providing effective rural practice supervision and to support the implementation of the new MSc in Rural Advanced Practice, this Supervision Hub will provide learning resources for rural practice supervisors that promote excellence in rural practice supervision.
Dr Pam Nicoll is an Associate Director within the Medical Directorate of NHS Education for Scotland. Pam is leading on the establishment of the National Centre for Remote and Rural Health and Social Care as a joint programme of work between NHS Education for Scotland and the Scottish Government. Pam previously developed and led the Remote and Rural Healthcare Education Alliance (RRHEAL) from 2008 until June 2022. RRHEAL has responsibility for coordinating remote, rural and island healthcare education development across Scotland. RRHEAL are committed to the development of affordable and accessible education that makes best use of digital technology for the remote, rural and island workforce to help sustain and improve healthcare services.
Pam is passionate about good quality inclusive healthcare education and has worked in NHS in Scotland and England for over thirty years in clinical, educational and senior management roles. Pam graduated from the University of Glasgow and has undertaken postgraduate research and study with the University of Strathclyde and University of Highland and Islands. Pam’s PhD research work focussed on the effective evaluation of technology enhanced learning for health and care staff.

All NES resources on Turas will undergo a process of review after two years of the relevant date on the resource (i.e. the date of publication or date of last review). All resources that are older than three years will be removed from Turas until they have been reviewed.
