Adults With Incapacity (AWI)

The course was written for General Dental Practitioners, Public Dental Service Dentists and Hospital Dental Service Dentists.  The aim of this learning is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to work under the Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000. 

 

Please follow the instructions below to get started on the course:

Step 1: Pre- requisite learning

 

Dental AWI : Learning Programme 

All learners must complete all sections of this learning programme prior to attending the first online session of the course. 

  • The first task of the learning programme is an application for access to the educational resources, when submitted it can take up to 48 hours to be actioned. You should consider this when planning out your study time.
  • The online learning programme includes eLearning modules, essential reading, an MCQ and video resources.

NES will host interactive online meetings where you will meet our subject matter experts. 

  • Session 1: The Adults With Incapacity Act [Part 1]
  • Session 2: The Adults With Incapacity Act [Part 2]
  • Session 3: Presentation 
Prepare for your online meetings

NES deliver their education using Microsoft Teams. 

The admin team will issue a link to your meeting in the run up to the event. This will be delivered in an email. 

 

It is important that you get the best learning experience when joining online, here are some tips to help prepare for you online sessions.

  • Please join the meeting from a laptop/ desktop computer to ensure you can access all functions of teams. 
  • We recommend to plan the use of a quiet space.
  • You will be expected to have your camera on throughout the duration of the meeting.
  • You are expected to interact when prompted.
  • The facilitator will do an audio check when you enter the online meeting space.
  • Technical support will be available prior to, and during the event.
