Caring for Smiles is Scotland's national oral health promotion, training and support programme, which aims to improve the oral health of older people, particularly those living in care homes.

Attend online facilitated session

NES will host an interactive online meeting where you will meet our subject matter experts from the Caring For Smiles Team.

NES deliver their education using Microsoft Teams. 

The admin team will issue a link to your meeting in the run up to the event. This will be delivered in an email. 

 

It is important that you get the best learning experience when joining online, here are some tips to help prepare for you online session.

  • Please join the meeting from a laptop/ desktop computer to ensure you can access all functions of teams. 
  • We recommend to plan the use of a quiet space.
  • You will be expected to have your camera on throughout the duration of the meeting.
  • You are expected to interact when prompted.
  • The facilitator will do an audio check when you enter the online meeting space.
  • Technical support will be available prior to, and during the event.

An introduction to the goals of the Caring for Smiles programme and how it is implemented in the care home.

 

Intended Learning outcomes

  1. Discuss the aims of the ‘Caring for Smiles’ programme and how this is implemented in a care home.
  2. Describe the oral health assessment undertaken for each resident
  3. Be aware of the oral health component in a resident’s personalised care plan.
