Your third training day will provide guidance and advice on educational activities that are a requirement throughout the VDP's year. The training day will cover the following topics:
Your ability to plan educational activities will greatly benefit from this introduction to writing aims and learning outcomes. We examine Bloom's Taxonomy (1956) in this discussion as we develop specific, achievable, and measurable learning outcomes. All of your instructional activities will be built upon the foundations of these educational goals. A review of objectives, educator perspective statements, and how they support the learning outcomes will also be covered in this session.
Trainers are expected to deliver tutorials on a weekly basis. We will deliver education on the different formats of these educational activities and consider a range of places that you could host them. Offering a variety of tutorial settings will enhance the VDPs engagement and using different delivery methodologies will enable you to create a learner centred approach to the training year.
In this session we will provide a live demonstration of the portfolio log in, and show you around the trainer account in real time. We will cover the logs expected of the VDP and the input required from the trainer. Advice and guidance will be offered to enable you to support your VDP with the assessment portfolio and reflective practice.
You will be invited to present or facilitate at a study day. We will deliver advice on how to plan your content, providing tips for building a PowerPoint presentation and offer guidance on accessibility. NHS Education for Scotland (NES) are committed to easy access for everyone. We're constantly working towards improving the accessibility of resources to provide equal access to all learners.
As part of the START course and becoming a trainer you are expected to deliver a 5-10 minute presentation to your peers on day 4 of training.
The presentation should be based on a 1 hour tutorial or 2 hour study day session. This may be a educational event you have already delivered or are planning to deliver in the future.
More information can be found on the dedicated Day 4 page.
