The aim of this project was to develop the skills and knowledge to deliver family meetings and family therapy sessions for stroke patients on our stroke unit. Hospital visiting had been suspended due to the Covid19 pandemic, this meant that relatives could not participate in their loved ones rehabilitation as previously. Staff missed the highly valued meetings in sharing progress and having difficult conversations about discharge planning. Video conferences of these sessions has been facilitated and there is now a procedure in place to facilitate these sessions. I will continue using video conferencing to support relative liaison during the pandemic and beyond. I will also explore using asynchronous content to improve patient and relative communication.
