Safety planning is an essential intervention in the care of the suicidal patient however at present this intervention is delivered on paper. This project aimed to introduce a digital method of creating and delivering the safety planning intervention.
Both staff and patients demonstrated a desire for this intervention to be in a digital format & utilising technology allowed this to become more person-centred.
The digital safety plan showed a 90% improvement in use of the plan outside the patients home and a 80% increase in sharing their plan with family, friends and/or carers as opposed to the paper alternative.
