Aims and Learning Outcomes

Aims

This full day face-to-face session is designed for those DCTs undertaking their inhalation sedation training as part of their post. It will provide comprehensive training in the skills and knowledge required for DCTs to manage medical emergency situations and resuscitation in adults and children; including scenarios specific to the provision of treatment under inhalation sedation.

Interior of a vehicle, ambulance or airbourne, and a patient bed. A parademic opening an equipment bag. Lifesaving emergency equipment.

Anticipated Learning Outcomes

By the end of the training session participants should be able to:

Safely and effectively manage a cardiac arrest situation in adults and children, including the use of automated external defibrillation

Safely and effectively manage medical emergencies in adults and children with particular emphasis on the practical use of the A-E approach. This includes relevant situations as described by the RCUK/GDC such as asthma, cardiac problems, anaphylaxis, seizures etc

Safely and effectively manage an adult and paediatric patient with a compromised airway, including problems related to dental inhalation sedation

This MME course is delivered in Glasgow as an in-person training event over one day. You will be automatically booked onto the course when you are in the Public Dental Service (PDS) or if the hospital service (HDS) has requested you attend in a specific training block. Certain links to Teams channels are open only to those within the pre-defined DCT learning group for the relevant training cohort.
