The Personal Outcomes Network (PON) in Scotland is a national, cross-sector group that brings together professionals from health, social care, housing, and other related services. It was established in 2015 in response to the growing emphasis on self-directed support and the integration of health and social care.
Purpose: The network promotes and supports the use of personal outcomes approaches—ways of working that focus on what matters most to individuals using services, rather than just on service outputs or processes.
Membership: It includes over 400 members from various sectors and roles, all committed to embedding personal outcomes in practice.
Activities: The PON provides a space for sharing learning, resources, stories, and evidence. It supports reflective practice and encourages collaboration across sectors.
Leadership: The network is coordinated by a group of representatives from organisations such as NHS Education for Scotland (NES), Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS), the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), the Care Inspectorate, the Scottish Government, and others.
The network is led, and meetings are planned and managed, by a small co-ordinating group (made up of staff from NES, Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS), Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), Care Inspectorate, Scottish Government, the Alliance, the Thistle Foundation and University of Strathclyde).
