All of our courses directly support the National Oral Health Improvement Programmes, helping learners contribute to improving oral health outcomes within their communities and workplaces.

These short, micro-learning eLearning modules are ideal for anyone with an interest in supporting good oral health and reducing inequalities, regardless of background or role.  

Each badge offers clear, accessible knowledge on key topics such as toothbrushing for oral health, eat well for oral health, and caring for others. 

They’re a great way to build confidence and skills at your own pace.

This new educational package available for frontline staff.  The purpose is to equip staff with knowledge and skills to improve oral health inequalities among all patient groups with additional specific focus on a life course approach from children, adults, and older people.  

EDDN Annual update

Childsmile Fluoride Varnish Update (For Childsmile-Trained EDDNs Only) 

This eLearning update is designed exclusively for Dental Nurses  who have achieved the credit rated Childsmile education programme including practical fluoride varnish element.  

It provides a focused refresher on key guidance, best practice and skills for the fluoride varnish application process, helping you maintain confidence and stay aligned with current protocols. 

Childsmile Extended duties dental nurses should undertake this elearning as part of their personal development plan annually. 

This learning supports your continuing role in delivering high-quality, preventive oral health care for children. 

Special Smiles

This full-day course supports a rights-based approach to improving the oral health of children and young people. It’s ideal for Dental Health Support Workers, dental nurses, dental hygienists/therapists, dentists, and anyone working with children and young people in all settings. 

With a particular benefit for those supporting children and young people with additional support needs, the training explores how learning through play can make dental care more accessible, positive, and meaningful.  

Throughout the day, participants will build confidence in using health-related play, understand children’s rights frameworks such as the UNCRC and the EACH Charter, and learn practical ways to help children and families feel more prepared and supported during dental visits and treatment. This engaging course aims to strengthen preventive care by promoting child-friendly communication, emotional support, and collaborative working across services.

REHIS Elementary Food and Health

This course is for staff involved in delivering oral health programmes such as childsmile and caring for smiles. The course covers the importance of having a balanced diet, the needs of specific groups, the impact of food on health, and the function of vitamins and minerals. Current food initiatives and nutrition policy are addressed, to highlight the importance of bridging the gap in food health inequalities. 

Topics covered include: 

  • An Introduction to Food and Health 

  • Food and Nutrients 

  • Energy and Energy Balance 

  • Influences on Food Intake 

  • Eating for Health - Food and Wellbeing 

  • Action Planning 

The course is accredited through REHIS (Royal Environmental Institute of Scotland) and has been independently rated on the Scottish Qualifications Framework (SCQF) at level 5 with one credit. Participants undertake a multiple choice exam at the end of the training session. 

This course provides 5 hours of verifiable CPD

REHIS Eating Well for Older People

Eating Well for Older People gives participants the knowledge and confidence to promote good eating habits, recognise common nutritional challenges, and help older adults maintain their health and wellbeing. 

Ideal for anyone working with, caring for, or supporting older people. This non-clinical course offers clear, evidence-based guidance, learners will explore the unique nutritional needs of older adults, the impact of issues such as under-nutrition, dehydration, and dementia, and learn practical ways to encourage better eating every day. 

This half day course includes interactive activities and real-life examples to help bring learning to life and is aimed at those working in the adult oral health programmes.
