Training for Trainers in Behavioural Activation Part 3
Prerequisites:
Clinicians who are registered mental health staff who have completed parts 1 & 2 of training for trainers in Behavioural Activation. Potential trainers should be committed to service improvement and have the support of their boards to attend the training and provide training in their local boards. It is essential that all participants have line management and Psychological Therapy Training Co-ordinator (PTTC) approval. Participants must also have support to deliver the training locally, prior to attending the course.
Learning aims:
Behavioural Activation (BA) is an evidence-based goal focused therapeutic approach that encourages engagement in rewarding activities rather than withdrawal and inactivity. It aims to increase the levels of positive reinforcement by people with depression. NHS Education Scotland has trained an expert group of national providers to increase the numbers of trainers available in the boards.
The training is provided in three parts;
- Part 1 focused on the models of Behavioural Activation and implementation.
- Part 2 focused on effective teaching, delivering the training materials and developing skills as a BA trainer. Following the provision of local training
- Part 3 will involve a coaching session and assessment.
