NMT Implementation: Strategic Oversight and Governance
Image of a midwifery professional smiling. Text reads: empowering nursing and midwifery professions to thrive in Scotland.

Following the publication of the NMT Report and Recommended Actions in February 2025, the NMT Ministerial Oversight Group was established to provide strategic oversight and scrutiny throughout the implementation of all 44 Recommended Actions from that report.

The Oversight Group meets quarterly and is chaired by the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care. Membership of the Oversight Group spans nursing and midwifery professionals across health and social care in Scotland, including the NHS, education, staff side and the independent sector.

Taskforce Subgroups

To enable delivery of the Recommended Actions at pace, implementation has been split into the below four subgroups. For full details, visit each of the Subgroup's pages.
