Research Summary Report: Supporting people in suicidal crisis
NHS Education for Scotland commissioned independent qualitative research to guide the development of a new, forthcoming learning resource for professionals who might support individuals in suicidal crisis.
The research involved two key groups:
Frontline practitioners and service providers (across health, social care, voluntary, private, and the public sectors) to explore the skills and knowledge they perceive as necessary to support someone in suicidal crisis, along with their families, friends and supporters.
People with lived experience of suicidal crisis, and their families, friends, and supporters. The aim was to explore what responses they found helpful or unhelpful when seeking support from services.
