Purpose: These resources aim to support the development of knowledge and skills of health and social care staff to design and deliver low fidelity simulation scenarios in their practice setting. The resources provide introductory and practical guidance about writing simulation scenarios. They also guide the preparation, delivery and debrief processes for running effective simulated scenarios.
The Clinical Skills managed Education Network (CSMEN) simulation scenario template is shared to enable a consistent and quality approach.
Developers: This is a collaborative resource between CSMEN, Public Services Delivery Scotland NMAHP and Pharmacy Directorates, University of Aberdeen, University of Glasgow, NHS Lothian and Scottish Centre for Simulation and Clinical Human Factors.
Audience: These resources have been designed for a multi-professional audience across health and social care including:
The importance of aims and learning outcomes in writing simulation-based scenarios
Preparatory element to writing and delivering mini simulation
Pre-brief planning and delivery for simulation educators.
Presentation guidance on using the CSMEN Scenario Template to create simulation scenarios.
Presentation guidance on populating the storyboard when writing simulation scenarios.
Delivering a simulated scenario in the practice setting
