This is an intensive 2 day dry lab skills course for ST2 - 4 Ophthalmology trainees. The course will cover a range of clinical and surgical skills essential for senior ophthalmology registrars in both acute and routine clinical practice. Sample programme attached.

Skills covered will include: 

  • Vitreous tap and injection of antibiotics
  • AC tap/ paracentesis
  • Corneal gluing
  • Corneal suturing 
  • Lateral canthotomy 
  • YAG and retinal laser
  • Trabeculectomy
  • Penetrating keratoplasty
  • Cataract surgery with adjuncts (Hooks, CTR, Toric, 3 piece IOLs etc)

Our intention is for this course to be as practical as possible on the day. Therefore, in lieu of lectures, we shall provide some pre-course reading material which we strongly recommend reviewing in order to get the most out of the course itself.
