Line Manager Principles

The Line Manager Principles below set out clear expectations for the level of support required to enable the applicant’s success:

  1. Enable protected time
Ensure the applicant has dedicated time for study, reflection, and programme related activities, including networking, workplace learning and development opportunities.
  2. Actively support learning
Provide encouragement, constructive feedback, and real-world opportunities to apply learning, ensuring a balance between their professional responsibilities and the programme.
  3. Champion development
Recognise the value of the programme and the applicant's commitment to professional development, promoting their growth and opportunities to inspire others within your team and organisation.
  4. Facilitate knowledge sharing
Encourage the applicant to share their experiences and learning to real-world digital transformation initiatives to build wider capability and impact.
  5. Stay engaged
Maintain regular conversations about the applicant’s progress, helping them identify challenges, developmental priorities, and offering ongoing support for their leadership growth.
  6.  Participate in Evaluation
Support the programme evaluation by tracking how the applicant has applied their learning and reflected on their leadership development. Complete all required programme evaluation activities to measure impact and inform future programme developments.

The line managers involvement is essential to maximising the programme’s impact at an organisational and sector-wide level. By endorsing an application, you are committing to being an engaged partner in the applicant’s development journey and contributing to digital transformation across the wider system.
