The aim of this resource is to help make staff aware of their responsibilities in ensuring NHS boards meet the duty to involve carers in the discharge of the cared for person from hospital. This duty is set out in Part 4, section 28 of the Carers (Scotland) Act 2016. This duty relates to unpaid carers who provide practical, physical and emotional support to family and friends.
