An appraisal in health and social care is a formal review of your performance over a set period. It's usually conducted annually and involves a meeting between yourself and your supervisor/line manager to agree objectives and a personal development plan (PDP) for the coming year. This is sometimes referred to as Personal Review and Planning (PR&P) process.

Professional requirements: All NMAHP workforce as specified by individual governing bodies ie. Continuing professional development (CPD) in health and social care is the process of learning and developing skills throughout your career to keep your knowledge up to date.
Examples of CPD can include formal learning courses, group discussions and reflective practice – such as writing accounts and receiving feedback from colleagues.
CPD ensures individuals practice with confidence and competence, enhances the quality of care for service users, and opens doors to new opportunities for career growth.
