Vaccine specific training resources for registered healthcare practitioners relating to the Neonatal selective immunisation programme for babies at risk of hepatitis B.

Babies born to mothers infected with hepatitis B virus  (HBV) or who have had acute hepatitis B during pregnancy are at risk of becoming infected with HBV . The objective of the selective neonatal hepatitis B immunisation programme is to provide post exposure immunisation to infants born to pregnant women living with HBV, to prevent mother to child transmission at or around the time of birth​​.

Adults Selective Hepatitis B Immunisation Programme

This resource was developed by NHS Education for Scotland (NES) in collaboration with Public Health Scotland (PHS). The aim of the resource is to help support healthcare practitioners to deliver the adult selective Hepatitis B immunisation programme in Scotland. After completing the resource practitioners will be able to:

  • Describe the rationale for selective hepatitis B immunisation of high-risk individuals
  • Discuss the importance of the adult selective hepatitis B immunisation programme
  • Identify sources of additional information
