This teaching day will form part of the core teaching series for the Core Surgical Trainees. The aim is to help trainees studying for the MRCS exam.
All day session to refine high yield MRCS Part B knowledge, practice procedural exam stations, improve structure and viva technique. All faculty post MRCS. Attendance certificates will be provided following completion of feedback. Day structure:
Morning Lectures:
Management of major trauma
Vascular surgery
Neurosurgical trauma
Plastics - Burns
Afternoon OSCE stations/small group teaching:
ATLS moulage
Vascular small group teaching
Neurosurgical small group teaching
Burns assessment, suturing skills
Venue: Stracathro Regional Treatment Centre, Brechin, Angus DD9 7QA
Room: Minor Procedures Unit
Prerequisites: You must be a current Scottish Core Surgical trainee.
Learning aims: Revision of subjects less commonly taught for MRCS.
Learning outcomes: Familiarity with basic sciences and applied knowledge in trauma, vascular, neurosurgery and plastic surgery.
